課程概述 |
The total of 16 weeks of this course will be majorly held as in-class lectures. The material of this course will cover principles of flow in open channels, energy and conservation laws, uniform/nonuniform flow, flow velocity distribution, gradually varied flow, water profile computation, unsteady flow, and some basic knowledge of numerical methods. At the end of the semester, student will be asked to pick an open channel related topic and review as least 2 related literatures to write the final report. Besides, a commonly used engineering software for open channel simulation, HEC-RAS, will be introduced and demonstrated in this course. From this course, students should expect to acquire and learn abilities and knowledge about open channel hydraulics. |
課程目標 |
This course is designed to develop the insight into
(1) basic physical principle of fluid dynamic that govern the flow in open channels;
(2) analytical and mathematical skills to describe/compute open-channel flow behavior using engineering tools and software; and
(3) abilities of applying the principles and skills to engineering project and open-channel system problems. |
